JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Director of Technology Projects

Summary: As the Director of Technology Projects, you hold a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of enterprise projects and initiatives. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing project goals, evaluating, selecting, and prioritizing projects in collaboration with senior leaders. A key facet of your role involves reporting on the overall health of portfolios, programs, and projects, identifying issues and risks, and creating effective mitigation plans. You will be instrumental in establishing, maturing, and maintaining Project Management Office (PMO) best practices, incorporating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success across portfolios, programs, and projects. Additionally, you will serve as a project advisor, ensuring adherence to project management best practices and championing the Project Management Center of Practice (COP).

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term planning and vision implementation through the identification of strategic business and technology initiatives.

  • Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Information Services (IS) Leadership team and leadership at all levels. Ensure optimal delivery of Project Management Office services, translating strategy into operations via projects and initiatives.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership for the Project Management Office function and Project Managers, fostering ministry-wide collaboration and communication. Ensure alignment of IS initiatives with Ministry objectives.

  • Professional Discipline Champion: Act as a Champion of the professional project discipline and a trusted partner across the ministry to facilitate people, process, and technology change aligned with the strategic plan.

  • PMO Establishment: Establish, mature, and maintain a Project Management Office, ensuring successful implementation of the highest value strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.

  • Methodology Maintenance: Establish and maintain project management methodologies via a Center of Practice, ensuring consistent and optimized project management practices among Project Managers.

  • Oversight and Management: Provide oversight to multiple project managers (employees and contractors), ensuring adherence to established PM standards and best practices.

  • Financial Oversight: Work with CDTO, Technology, and Digital Marketing leaders to create annual budgets and track progress against them.

  • Program and Project Execution: Frame-up and execute high-priority and 'mission-critical' programs and projects.

  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations across key project constraints, including budget, time, quality, resources, and scope.

  • Relationship Building: Achieve results and build relationships across departments and teams.

  • Problem Solving: Think creatively to remove roadblocks and support the project team in achieving results.

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership, mentoring, and development for a highly competent and responsive Project Management team. Foster a learning environment aligned with biblical values

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of prior experience within Project Management.
  • Experienced with project management software such as Asana, Monday.com, Wrike, Microsoft Project (MS Project), etc.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations across key project constraints including budget, time, quality, resources, and scope.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining project management methodologies.
  • Comfortable reporting on the overall health of portfolios, programs, and projects, tickets, work requests, and identifies issues and risks and creates mitigation plans.

  • Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid / Ability to work remotely 1 day per week)
