As a Metallurgical Technician, you will:

Primary Responsibilities

  • The machinist will work on a team that provides machining support to a metallurgical testing laboratory.
  • The machinist is required to follow written instructions and be able to read blueprints.
  • The machinist must pay attention to detail and be quality oriented.
  • The primary responsibility is to disassemble/section/machine large ferrous cast and forged components for further testing.
  • Equipment used to perform primary job functions includes abrasive cut-off saws, oxyacetylene torches, EDS (electric discharge saw), surface grinders, lathes, reciprocating mill, and large band saws.
  • Another major component of this position is the ability to operate an array of hardness testing equipment, such as: Brinell, Rockwell B & C, Pin Brinell, etc.
  • The machinist must be able to reliably use machinist measuring instruments, such as: micrometers, calipers, dial bore indicators, etc.
  • The machinist must be capable of communicating with all levels of employees found in a professional lab environment, including supervisors and company engineers.
  • The machinist must be team oriented, self-motivated and be flexible to work weekends and overtime when needed.


This is a Full Time, Contract opportunity.

Shift:

  • This position will work 1st Shift, Mon to Fri. No relocation assistance is available, candidates out of state must be able to relocate at their own expense.

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Decatur, IL 62526

Pay Rate: $21 to $24 per hour.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
