We are looking for a talented Finance Manager, Trailer & Drivelines to join our team specializing in Finance for our Components Business Segment in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsible for all accounting practices, budgeting, financial controls, costs, and financial reporting for a Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization. Works with Business Segment/Business Unit Controller to apply consistent accounting practices to line of business/regional distribution organization. Participates in the leadership team for the line of business/regional distribution organization.

  • Manages all accounting practices for the Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization; leads the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and forecast processes within the Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization.

  • Drives business decisions through strategic financial analysis for the Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization as part of the leadership team.

  • Works with the Business Unit Controller to interpret and apply consistent accounting practices.

  • Analyzes business results, determines root causes and prepares recommendations and alternatives for review by management.

  • Ensures a strong control environment across the key business cycles.

  • Ensures that appropriate resources are available for internal and external financial and process audits.

  • Forecasts logistics costs and inventory; provides leadership to business to drive logistics and working capital effectiveness.

  • Leads financial analysis on capital projects and overall capital management process.

  • Oversees monthly and quarterly financial reporting.

  • Manages the implementation of recommended changes to accounting practices.

  • Leads efforts to comply with Securities and Exchange Commission reporting requirements to Corporate and other regulatory organizations.

  • Drives finance succession planning for the line of business/regional distribution organization finance organization. Ensures that the finance function is structured to support the line of business/regional distribution organization needs.

  • Coaches and mentors direct reports; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

  • Participates in the leadership team for the line of business/regional distribution organization.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or similar certification required.

Experience

  • Significant experience required, including strategy, managerial and budgetary experience in a large manufacturing or distribution center environment.

  • This position is hybrid and can be located at one of the following Cummins Meritor sites in the United States including Troy, MI, Florence, KY, Frankfort, KY, Laurinburg, NC, Asheville, NC, Morganton, NC, York, SC

Overview:

  • The role of the Cummins Meritor Finance Analysis Manager is to provide sound business, commercial and strategic guidance, and financial leadership to assist in driving high performance in the Trailer and Drivelines businesses totaling over $500 million in revenue annually. Responsible for the integrity of financial reporting for Drivelines with focus on product line profitability. Show finance leadership by interfacing with business unit, operations, industrialization, supply chain, procurement and finance peers that support those functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing Financial Support, Analysis & Advice – Drivelines & Trailer

  • Identify critical financial issues and recommend strategies and best practices to meet the short-term and long-term financial needs.

  • Analyze and understand financial calculation methodologies for standard cost, gross manufacturing margin and variances affecting product line profitability globally and influence commonization of methodologies. Challenge allocation methodologies that do not properly reflect financial performance.

  • Support financial requirements for product strategy ARs along with capacity, product growth and footprint ARs where needed. Partner with finance controllers at Laurinburg, Morganton, Frankfort and others to support product line profitability with focus on brake products with the most significant need for margin enhancement.

  • Assist in the development of the new, automated product line profitability reporting. Play a key role in the design and collection of data that drives the calculations and ensures proper allocation of variances.

  • Support pricing strategies with global OEMs for Drivelines and Trailer as we develop a plan to drive margin enhancement via pricing recoveries outside of LTAs and to support required pricing actions as LTAs expire, outlining a path to obtain minimum levels of profitability by region where performance is below acceptable levels.

  • Oversee dissemination of financial information and policies to key stakeholders.

  • Contribute and present product line profitability in leadership meetings up through Cummins-Meritor GM and his direct staff (includes ad hoc meeting requests and IBP meetings for Drivelines and Trailer)

  • Provide counsel and subject matter expertise to internal clients on financial and operational matters to ensure the clarity of the financial implications of business decisions.

  • Develop deep understanding of business drivers and financial levers to provide strategic decision support and guidance.

Business Analysis and Development

  • Direct and develop the Drivelines & Trailer organization in the development of business plans to ensure they are based on sound business and financial assumptions; include measurable goals by which performance can be evaluated and meets business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Help ensure that strategic and tactical efforts and resources are aligned in a way that leads to the achievement of goals, business growth and enhanced performance, keeping in mind efficiency, capacity and prioritization.

  • Lead development of major business cases and customer negotiation strategies.

  • Support all long-term agreement (LTA) negotiations.

Building & Maintaining Relationships

  • Foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with all functional departments.

Leadership / Other

  • Improve capabilities and strength of Finance team through assessment, staffing, training, and process improvement implementation.

  • Provide work direction that will develop team members’ skills and motivate high-level performance.

  • Communicate information to cross-functional team members on a regular basis, keeping them up-to-date and soliciting their input on current issues and to solve critical objectives.

  • Mentor and develop leadership talent within the Finance organization, including guidance with regards to individual career path design.

  • Other ad hoc assignments or projects as required.

  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant experience

  • Deadline & business driven with ability to work independently and drive a team to achieve results

  • Domestic travel may be required

  • Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance or Accounting is required

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
