Position Summary:


The Patient Accounting Specialist is responsible for working directly with insurance companies, patients and families to verify proper benefits eligibility on admission inquiries, collecting co-pays/deductibles from patients, assisting with establishing effective and timely payment plans with patients. This position requires individuals to have a thorough knowledge of claims, insurance/Medicare billing, and medical terminology in order to complete complex tasks in regards to posting remits and explanation of benefits from insurance companies. In addition, this individual will act as a liaison between patient, medical staff, insurance companies, and third parties by processing and ensuring payment of claims, and reviewing insurance reimbursements.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:


Education:
High school graduation, or equivalent.


Experience:
Two (2) years of insurance verification, billing, charge and payment posting experience in healthcare business office environment.


Skills:
Knowledge of invoices and claims, insurance/Medicare billing, medical terminology, patient charts, coding audits, and federal, state and local rules and regulations regarding medical claims; Skilled in Microsoft software programs; Ability to compile data for use in reports, review database records, understand and carry out basic claims procedures.
