​​The Azure Data chief of staff team manages all the behind-the-scenes Budget, Headcount and Operating procedures and processes to ensure that the Azure Data Engineering priorities can be achieved. Our team makes tangible impact on this growing organization, getting things done efficiently and at scale. Our work spans large and diverse global teams, and we develop tools and practices that streamline the business and drive results.

As a Senior Business Manager (External Resources), you will serve as a trusted partner to the Lead Business Manager and Chief of Staff for all areas related to the management and operations of our external resources budget, processes, and tools. In this role you will be integrated with, support all business management and operations rhythms across the Staff team, while you partner deeply with Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Business development, Legal and Compliance. You will exercise and develop your general management skills, partner with, and be able to support the business efficiently at any level. You’ll be a vital, trusted member of a tight-knit team, an exemplar of cultural alignment and the highest professional standards. You will manage confidential information without exception. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis, business management or finance role, preferably with technology/software engineering teams
  • 4+ years of experience establishing statements of work, contract negotiation, and purchase order operations
  • Proven effectiveness driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes, problem solving, leading cross-team programs to desired results, and managing risk
  • Demonstrated organizational skills through your experience institutionalizing them across a team through process or system changes.
  • Ability to rapidly gain/build trust and confidence of stakeholders
  • Operate consistently, accurately with high integrity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, MS Office applications, and Business Intelligence applications such as Power BI, Procurement processing and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated cross-team collaboration, with proven ability to work across organizations and reporting boundaries to get things done
  • Excellent written and oral communication

Business Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.

Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Management of external resources budgeting processing including target definition, pre-approval process, approval process, purchase order process and operations.
  • Collaborate and partner with global procurement, contractorhub and engineering leads to ensure optimally, and compliantly, established statements of work and purchase orders for all outsourced resources and product development spend.
  • Create a monthly expense overview (budget vs forecast of external resources budget)
  • Guidance owner and process owner related to all external resource, procurement and contractorhub processes
  • Contribute to monthly business review and reporting of analyses on external resources budget, key operational results, business metrics, actionable business insights that enable effective business management and decision-making.
  • Contribute to building user friendly reports and communications that are audience specific to ensure clarity and drive alignment.
