CT Physicist FY2324 University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF09178 The Department of Radiological Sciences in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate full-time faculty opening at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in either the in-Residence or Adjunct series for a basic scientist with expertise in CT Physics, with a preference for an individual with experience in acquisition, reconstruction and/or post-processing analysis of images from Photon Counting Computed Tomography (PCCT). The candidate is expected to collaborate with medical physicists, computer vision experts, radiologists, and other scientists both within and outside the Department. S/he will have access to state-of-the-art imaging platforms, including CT systems (Photon Counting CT, Dual Source CT, PET-CT, and an interventional CT dedicated to experimentation, with all platforms having iterative reconstruction and other radiation dose reduction features). The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research and excellence in teaching and also a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate student population, and with majors in STEM fields. All applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) and a strong publication record that demonstrates their expertise related to the acquisition and reconstruction of post-processing analysis in CT. Applicants must demonstrate leadership in research and possess outstanding teaching and mentoring capabilities with graduate students. A demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students through teaching or mentoring activities is desired. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from a diverse background and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students. Experience in mentoring women and minorities in STEM fields is desired. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must have the capacity to develop a collaborative but independent research program in computational methods, machine learning, or probabilistic disease modeling predicated on medical and pathology image analysis; a record of extramural funding is highly desirable. Candidates at the Associate Professor level must have a demonstrated record of extramural funding and must also demonstrate scientific leadership and the ability to develop sustainable projects with the potential for significant impact in biomedicine, as well as a history of collaboration. A demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students through teaching or mentoring activities is desired. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from a diverse background and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students. Experience in mentoring women and minorities in STEM fields is desired.
