II. Job Summary
The primary objective of the Youth Program Mentor position is to implement and lead groups and services offered within the North 4 and other Youth programming. The Youth Program Mentor will provide case management services, educational pathways and employment services to a caseload of program participants in the North 4 Program and contributing to a high quality youth continuum of employment and education services in conjunction with the Agency’s vision, mission and strategies around programming for youth and young adults ages 14 – 30 years.
III. Core Job Functions
The Youth Program Mentor performs a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:
Incumbent will have a private office/designated workspace in a typical office environment. The building is multiple floors and fully accessible and is smoke-free. Work will include regular local travel. Working hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8 am-5:00 pm, but will include evening and weekend hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, sometimes loud.

- Perform any other tasks and duties necessary in order for the agency to meet its mission.

- IV. Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or other relevant field preferred or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
- Minimum of one year experience working with at-risk youth.
- Ability to effectively work, communicate, and build sound relationships in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff reflect significant diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
- Ability to manage and coordinate activities and workload.
- Ability to facilitate meetings, group workshops, orientations.
- Knowledge of youth development and environmental factors and barriers, including poverty and racism, influencing the behaviors of at-risk youth and young adults (juveniles, homeless, drop-out and gang involved youth and youth in foster care system) ages 14-30.
- Ability to develop/create developmentally appropriate programs for youth.
- Ability to learn how to conduct reading, math, career, and employment barrier assessments.
- Ability to work youth friendly hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and database applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel throughout the metro area.
- Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable, insured transportation, and the ability to meet agency’s driving requirements including proof of insurance is preferred but not required.
