Krise Transportation is seeking a Director of Fleet who will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of our fleet operations in Pennsylvania. This position can be located anywhere across Pennsylvania. The Director of Fleet will be responsible for managing a diverse fleet of vehicles used for student transportation, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Director of Fleet reports to the President.

Responsibilities

Specific Duties & Responsibilities include the following:

Fleet Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet department, including vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Manage a team of maintenance and logistics staff, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to deliver high-quality service.

Safety and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of student transportation safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including vehicle inspections and licensing requirements.

Fleet Optimization

  • Continuously assess and optimize the fleet's composition and utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the fleet budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Make data-driven recommendations for procurement, disposal, and replacement of vehicles.

Vendor and Supplier Relations

  • Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely maintenance and repairs.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fleet operations to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management and collaborate on strategic decision-making.

Environmental Responsibility

  • Explore and implement eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet.

All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five or more years' experience in overseeing fleet maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.
  • Technology skills including use of Microsoft Office applications and fleet electronic diagnostic software, tools and equipment. Previous experience using electronic fleet management software systems.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.
  • Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including EPA and OSHA requirements related to the shop and maintenance functions.
  • Must conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Must highly motivated and demonstrate excellent leadership skills
  • Must make sure staff utilizes all safety equipment

Working Conditions

  • This position may require travel to other facilities operated by the company including the home office located in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
