Coordinates and performs technical work related to state and/or federally funded utility adjustments and relocations. Work requires extensive contact with private entities and governmental agencies.

Essential Duties:

Utility Coordinator I:

  • Establishes liaison with and coordinates activities between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies and other entities.
  • Implements and interprets Department policies and procedures as they relate to utility adjustments, relocations, negotiations, reimbursements and compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Measures, coordinates and calculates payments such as betterment ratios, eligibility percentages, supplements, market value comparisons and relocation costs.
  • Prepares, processes and maintains documents, references and/or resource materials.
  • Meets with utility representatives and other entities to explain the utility accommodation policy and relocation and reimbursement processes, negotiate, answer questions and to resolve problems.
  • Performs audits and assists in determining eligibility requirements for payment of relocation reimbursements.
  • Prepares utility adjustment assembly folder to include all pertinent data and handout materials; prepares report for approval.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Duties for Utility Coordinator II:

  • Reviews agreements, plans, specifications and billings submitted by the utility companies.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Duties for Utility Coordinator III:

  • Develops, Implements and interprets Department policies and procedures as they relate to utility adjustments, relocations, negotiations, reimbursements and compliance with applicable state and federal laws.

Additional Duties for Utility Coordinator IV:

  • Assists in developing and preparing program manuals and/or classroom materials.
  • Performs legal and/or technical review analysis of schematics, utility adjustment plans and cost estimates, maps, surveys, field notes, property descriptions, pre-appraisal and appraisals, titles, deeds, legal and curative instruments and/or exhibits.
  • Researches problems and coordinates solutions regarding program processes and procedures; prepares correspondence and makes recommendations to improve programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Utility Coordinator I:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, public admin, real estate, engineering, management, accounting, public

Experience: 1 YEAR Utility related (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)

Utility Coordinator II:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, public admin, real estate, engineering, management, accounting, public

Experience: 2 Years Utility related (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)

Utility Coordinator III:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, public admin, real estate, engineering, management, accounting, public

Experience: 4 Years Utility related (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)

Utility Coordinator IV:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, public admin, real estate, engineering, management, accounting, public

Experience: 5 Years Utility related (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Utility Coordinator I,II,III and IV:

  • Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
  • Hearing-perceive sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
