Job Title: Substation Civil/Structural Project Engineer

Location: Pomona, CA (Hybrid Remote/On-site)

Compensation: $85,000-$150,500 depending on experience.

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Civil/Structural Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and structural engineering, particularly focused on substations, and experience managing projects from conception to completion. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in civil and structural design, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead and manage substation civil/structural projects from initiation to closeout, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Design and Engineering: Develop civil and structural designs, specifications, and calculations for substation facilities and foundations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure materials and services required for project execution, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Construction Oversight: Collaborate with construction teams to ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of civil and structural components of substations.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Conduct inspections, quality assurance checks, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to civil and structural aspects and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Client Communication: Communicate regularly with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records throughout the project lifecycle, including project status reports, change orders, and as-built drawings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, with a focus on substation design and construction.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Strong technical skills in civil and structural design, including foundations, steel structures, and concrete construction.
  • Proficiency in engineering software/tools such as AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to civil and structural engineering in substations (e.g., ASCE, ACI, AISC).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid remote/on-site work environment.
