Position Overview
As the Communications Coordinator VISTA, you will play a crucial role in promoting and expanding the Healthy Parks Healthy People programs and free community events at Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation. Your responsibilities will include developing a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy to ensure underserved communities have access to our programs. You will be instrumental in enhancing our social media presence, traditional media outreach, and website design to increase program visibility.
Primary Responsibilities
This position is funded by AmeriCorps VISTA, a national service program dedicated to combating poverty. As a VISTA member, you will make a full-time commitment to serving a specific project at a nonprofit organization like Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation. You will receive a living allowance, health benefits, professional development opportunities, and more.

Primary Responsibilities
- Create and implement a marketing and outreach plan for Healthy Parks Healthy People programs
- Manage and enhance social media profiles, website, blog posts, newsletters, and digital media projects
- Support the Doggie Ambassador Program with marketing and communication strategies
- Assist in fundraising efforts through strategic media campaigns
- Expand and maintain the organization's online database with researched content
- Increase program visibility through traditional media coverage
- Monitor and analyze advertising campaigns and engagement metrics
- Bachelor's degree or one year of experience in marketing, public relations, or communications
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Proficiency in using social media and traditional media for outreach
- Preferred: Experience in graphic or website design
- Preferred: Proficiency in Spanish language

- Living allowance of approximately $15,000
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend
- Relocation settling-in allowance and travel reimbursement
