Job Title: Surgery Coordinator for East Cooper Center for Pelvic Medicine
General Summary
Responsible for managing all aspects of the surgery process, including insurance verification, obtaining pre-operative certifications and authorizations, completing necessary hospital forms, scheduling pre-operative labs and tests, and coordinating post-surgery care.
Essential Job Responsibilities
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a physician’s office, with previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.

Job Title: Surgery Coordinator for East Cooper Center for Pelvic Medicine
General Summary

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support the mission and objectives of East Cooper Center for Pelvic Medicine
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Understand compliance responsibilities; adhere to federal and state laws, regulations, and organizational policies, and report any compliance issues promptly.
- Triage surgical candidates as needed by physicians.
- Collaborate with hospital personnel to collect information necessary for surgery scheduling.
- Educate patients about their planned surgeries.
- Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
- Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual insurance plans before surgery.
- Work with surgeons to obtain medical clearances and preoperative testing in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Confirm and reschedule return appointments as necessary.
- Provide support to administrative or clinical staff as needed.
- Notify the manager of any issues related to patient accounts and insurance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
