Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources, serving as a Strategic HR Business Partner to leadership, leads talent management and talent acquisition initiatives while navigating the complexities of a unionized workforce within the Health System. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives, while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations laws.

Key Responsibilities
Performance/Talent Management
- Oversee the performance management process for unionized employees, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on performance feedback, goal setting, and development planning.
- Collaborate with leadership to address performance-related issues, implement corrective actions, and support employee development.
- Develop and implement talent management strategies, including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development programs.
- Lead the talent acquisition function in a union environment, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and organizational policies.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract diverse talent pools, job fairs, and other recruitment channels.
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure fair and equitable recruitment and selection processes.
- Serve as a liaison between management and union representatives, fostering open communication and collaboration to address employee concerns and resolve conflicts.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and labor relations policies to ensure compliance and fair treatment of unionized employees.
- Collaborate with union leadership to negotiate labor contracts, resolve grievances, and implement union-sponsored programs and initiatives.
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive work environment and enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
- Partner with HR team to address employee concerns, facilitate dispute resolution, and promote employee wellness initiatives.
- Participate in regular meetings with union leadership to gather feedback, address issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize HR data and analytics to monitor key talent metrics, trends, and workforce demographics
- Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and regulations governing unionized workplaces.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership and union representatives on talent management, talent acquisition, and employee relations initiatives.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in HR programs and processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures related to talent management and talent acquisition.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in talent management, talent acquisition, and HR technology, and make recommendations for enhancements as needed.
Position Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years human resources experience with at least three years HR management experience required.
- Prior healthcare HR experience and labor relations experience is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of talent management principles, including workforce planning, succession planning, and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract top talent in a competitive market.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR preferred
