About This Position

The Mechanical Analysis and Thermal Design Operations and Process Leader will drive discipline level tactical and strategic initiatives. In this role, you will have purview over the section’s top-level metrics for programs that span a diverse set of customers and airframers.

With a lean and process-focused mindset, you will be responsible for aligning engineering metrics and business financial deliverables across four sub sections through the ownership of daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms, visual management, and resource planning. You will also partner with the teams to identify strategic waste reduction opportunities and coordinate with Product Line leaders to fund these projects.

In this highly collaborative and cross-functional position, exceptional communication skills and ability to manage projects across horizontal teams is essential.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides counsel and recommendations to section product line management on both tactical execution and longer term strategic initiatives. Tactical execution includes meeting section level performance metrics including business financial commitments and implementing operational rhythms. Strategic initiatives include long range forecasting and strategic workforce planning as well as Lean continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for defining and driving section key performance indices (KPIs) including appropriate action plans to close on performance metrics.
  • Partners with sub-section managers to manage resources, schedule, and budget for their teams. Interfaces with the Department level Operations Team to own the strategic workforce plan for the section including utilization of contractors, interns, or other resource pools.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in an engineering role AND program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
