Summary Of Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position
The Supervisor Lab coordinates workflows including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing, and monitoring related to some or all aspects of the clinical laboratory disciplines (e.g., Draw Room, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Point of Care, Toxicology). This position works closely with other laboratory section leaders, laboratory management, and pathologists. They ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Essential Job Functions
Licensing/Certification
MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
Education
Bachelors, Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science/Biology/Biochemistry
from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)
Work Experience
5 years experience in a laboratory tech setting (required)
Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment (preferred)

Working Conditions
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur
May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse
May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights
May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids*
May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials*

- Utilizes working knowledge of procedures and theories in all areas of responsibilities.
- Hires, onboards, and administers disciplinary actions of personnel as needed.
- Completes schedule and manages timekeeping.
- Implements policies and procedures as relates to specific area.
- Oversees training and orientation of personnel.
- Maintains standards of accreditation for their area.
- Performs regular discussion on priorities and performance to staff via touch bases, check-ins, etc.
- All other duties as assigned
