About The Role

The Strategic Sourcing Director is a critically important role that positions the company to always buy the right ingredients at the right price to support Vivion’s continued growth and profitability. You will be responsible for the overall purchasing team’s performance in supporting the Vivion Solid Dose business strategy. This includes but is not limited to providing the leadership and guidance to ensure the purchasing team maintains the correct inventory levels of ingredients to support the annual sales volume budget plan, set and remain below inventory turn goals, and exceed the gross margin goals. The purchasing team will work with marketing, sales, and operations to estimate future requirements by utilizing the SIOP process. The team will ensure that the products arrive on time and at a quality level approved by food safety and quality control.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Have a deep understanding of the market dynamics and help guide Vivion’s sourcing strategy to successfully stay ahead of the competition.
  • Develop strategic relationships with suppliers and be the point person for any opportunities or issues.
  • Seek out exclusive supplier relationships that would benefit and position Vivion in the market for higher sales and margins.
  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for ingredients, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Assesses current product availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
  • Prepares and presents market conditions and merchandise cost updates as changes occur.
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
  • Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding orders.
  • Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintains and/or implements purchasing tools and reports to manage inventory levels.
  • Acts as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers. Aims to get annual cost reductions of 5%+ across the business.
  • Works with the finance and sales team to forecast departmental budgets and overall business cash flow.
  • Train other team members in systems, logistics, and purchasing.
  • Performs vetting of new suppliers.
  • Manage the completion of 6-month recurring Supplier Performance Reviews.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the completion of tasks and goals inside their department.

Job Requirements:

  • 7-10 years relevant experience in purchasing. Ideally in the ingredients industry.
  • Proficient with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Google, Microsoft, or related software. Microsoft Business Central is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in solid-dose products.
  • Understanding of business and management principles.
  • Previous successful supervisory and leadership experience
  • Travel to international and domestic suppliers if and when required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.

Pay: The general range for the role is $120,000 - $140,000, with final compensation based on education, experience, and skills.

Location: Onsite in our Fort Worth, TX office.
