The COPA Camps Manager & Player Engagement role is a full-time coaching and leadership position focused on two critical pillars of COPA STC’s mission: delivering world-class camp experiences and developing high-quality, engaging training that fosters athlete growth and retention. This individual will play a central role in planning and executing seasonal camps, leading with excellence in player development, and supporting the Membership Training team in daily operations.

- Seasonal Camps Execution & Leadership
- Program Ownership: Plan, design, and execute all COPA STC seasonal camps (summer, winter, and school breaks), ensuring alignment with COPA's core values and training standards.
- Staffing & Training: Lead the hiring, onboarding, and training of seasonal camp staff. Ensure coaches understand and deliver programming that meets COPA’s quality benchmarks.
- Curriculum Management: Implement and refine camp curriculum to ensure it is developmentally appropriate, engaging, and in line with COPA's coaching philosophy.
- Team Coordination: Build and lead daily coach assignments, pre-camp huddles, and debriefs to ensure consistency, clarity, and energy across all staff.
- Athlete Experience: Create a vibrant, fun, and safe environment where every athlete feels included and supported, resulting in high levels of satisfaction and increased membership conversions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with marketing to promote camps, track registrations and attendance trends, and provide feedback on messaging to drive enrollment.
- Coaching & Player Development (20–25 Hours/Week when no camps)
- Elite-Level Coaching: Deliver high-quality training sessions across a variety of age groups and levels, consistently modeling COPA's coaching expectations.
- Session Ownership: Tailor programming to the needs of each group, ensuring every session is developmentally sound, enjoyable, and purpose-driven.
- Athlete Engagement: Actively use Player Development Check-ins (PDCs) to build individual relationships with players, providing feedback and encouragement to enhance development and retention.
- Retention-Focused Approach: Prioritize joy, challenge, and personal attention in every session to create memorable experiences that build long-term loyalty.
- Creative Delivery: Innovate session delivery to maintain engagement and excitement, including themed sessions, challenges, or special technical focuses.
- Player Development Coordinator (PDC) Team Oversight
- Team Leadership: Supervise and schedule a team of part-time PDCs who support coaching staff and sub for training sessions.
- Training & Accountability: Develop and implement training systems to ensure PDCs are equipped to deliver quality coaching and conduct meaningful athlete check-ins.
- Member Engagement Tracking: Oversee data tracking of athlete check-ins, ensuring timely, personalized, and effective communication that supports athlete growth and retention.
- Mentorship: Act as a leader and mentor to PDCs, modeling professional conduct, passion for coaching, and alignment with COPA values.
- Membership Training Team Support
- Staffing Support: Serve as a key member of the Membership Training Team, helping to ensure all daily sessions are adequately staffed and stepping in to coach or assist as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other department leads to maintain smooth operations, respond to staff needs, and support organizational goals.
- Coverage & Flexibility: Provide dependable coverage in the event of coach absences, ensuring minimal disruption to training quality.
- Member Events & Engagement
- Event Planning: Plan and execute creative, engaging events designed to build community and showcase player development (e.g., awards nights, themed events, skill challenges).
- Cross-Departmental Alignment: Coordinate with the Marketing, Operations, and Programming teams to align on logistics and communications.
- Member Relationships: Serve as a highly visible, approachable leader during events to support member connection and satisfaction.
- 3–5 years of coaching experience with youth athletes, with demonstrated excellence in both training sessions and camp environments.
- Deep understanding of athlete development, motivation, and engagement strategies.
- Proven experience leading part-time or seasonal coaching staff, with a focus on mentorship and quality control.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with experience planning and executing camps or events.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and approachable leadership style, with a commitment to COPA’s mission and values.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and school breaks as needed for training and events.
