Job Purpose
The Program Manager will lead a dynamic and high-impact effort to empower the next generation of climate leaders by leveraging schools as catalysts for energy conservation and sustainability. This role is responsible for expanding and deepening the reach of the Renew Our Schools program, with a strong emphasis on building relationships with Colorado teachers, schools, and districts. Renew Our Schools engages K–12 students in meaningful climate action through hands-on learning, real-time energy monitoring, and school-wide competitions that make energy use tangible and exciting. Working closely with organizational leadership and external partners, the Program Manager will also guide program evaluation and help shape a strategic vision for long-term growth and impact. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the education system, a talent for building trusted partnerships with educators and school officials, and an entrepreneurial mindset to grow participation. Together, we can equip students with the tools and inspiration to create a more sustainable future.
This hybrid-remote role offers flexibility while including occasional travel across Colorado for school visits and in-person team meetings in our Boulder office and elsewhere to support strong collaboration. Principal Responsibilities

- Program Management and Scalability: Oversee day-to-day operations and program structure to keep Renew Our Schools running smoothly, meeting participant needs, and scaling effectively—while achieving impact and budget goals.
- Build Strong Relationships with Schools and Districts: Develop connections with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to align the program with their needs and encourage long-term engagement.
- Lead Outreach and Recruitment: Develop and implement strategies to expand school and district participation and retention, with input from Marketing and Development teams, ensuring educators understand the program’s value.
- Measure Impact and Improve Program Success: Track and analyze energy savings, participation trends, and learning outcomes, using data to refine and strengthen the program.
- Manage Financials: Manage the budget, revenue, and financial planning to ensure long-term efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Try new strategies, analyze what works, and make iterative changes to enhance the program’s structure and activities.
- Support and Lead the Team: Supervise and mentor staff, contractors, and volunteers, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team.
- Contribute to a strong sense of belonging where everyone can feel welcomed and included.
- Program Leadership: Skilled in managing program execution, impact, and growth.
- Education Insight: Knowledge of K–12 schools and systems, educator priorities, and district decision-making to drive participation.
- Partnership Development: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with educators, administrators, and stakeholders.
- Strategic & Data-Driven Decision Making: Skilled in analyzing challenges, innovating solutions, and using data to enhance impact and scalability.
- Financial & Resource Management: Experienced in budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring program sustainability.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and manage staff, contractors, and volunteers in a collaborative environment.
- Self-Motivation & Independence: Effective at working autonomously, managing priorities, and making informed decisions.
- Communication & Advocacy: Strong communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders and represent the program effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in digital tools and data management systems to streamline operations and track impact.
- At least 5 years of experience in program management, education programming, sustainability initiatives, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (relevant professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
- Experience working with K–12 schools, educators, or youth-focused programs—especially in areas of energy, conservation, or STEM education.
- Proven ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including school personnel, community organizations, and external partners.
- Demonstrated success managing projects that deliver measurable outcomes related to education, sustainability, or behavior change.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation for site visits throughout Colorado (especially the Front Range).
- Must pass a background check and maintain a clean driving record.
