About the Role - We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Buyer to join our procurement team at Tarter. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in sectors such as automotive or heavy equipment, involving procurement of metal and plastic parts through processes like stamping, forging, machining, and plastic molding.
Responsibilities
About the Role - We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Buyer to join our procurement team at Tarter. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, particularly in sectors such as automotive or heavy equipment, involving procurement of metal and plastic parts through processes like stamping, forging, machining, and plastic molding.
Responsibilities
- Drive Cost Savings Initiatives: Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Develop Sourcing Strategies: Create and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials, components, and packaging materials to support new programs and products.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Identify and engage potential suppliers, fostering relationships to ensure alignment with company goals for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and inventory management teams to align procurement activities with production schedules and business needs.
- Vendor Research and Selection: Conduct interviews and discussions with vendors to obtain product/service information, including price, availability, and delivery schedules. Select products for purchase based on testing, observation, or examination.
- Contract Negotiation: Estimate values based on market prices, obtain vendor quotes, and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
- Project Management: Track and report on sourcing projects from initiation through handoff to the materials releasing team.
- Identify Complementary Products: Identify additional products, items, or manufacturing methods that complement current processes and product catalog.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, or procurement within a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive, heavy equipment, or similar industries.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers.
- Proven ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with ERP or procurement software systems.
- Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
