Job Summary:
Apex is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Generalist to support a wide range of human resources functions. This position will focus heavily on employee relations, leave management, workers’ compensation, payroll administration, and a robust onboarding program. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to HR, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build trust across teams at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Serve as a key resource for employees and managers on HR-related inquiries and workplace concerns.
- Promote a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Support performance management processes and guide managers on corrective action and conflict resolution.
- Conduct investigations and recommend outcomes in partnership with HR leadership.
Onboarding and Employee Integration
- Own and manage the entire onboarding experience—from offer acceptance through the first 90 days.
- Develop and deliver onboarding programs to ensure seamless integration of new hires into the company culture, operations, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with operations, safety, IT, and benefits to ensure readiness and alignment for each new hire.
- Track and improve onboarding metrics such as early engagement, retention, and time-to-productivity.
Payroll and HRIS
- Serve as a backup and provide occasional support to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
- Maintain HRIS systems and ensure data integrity for employee records, compensation changes, and compliance requirements.
Leave Management and Accommodations
- Manage leave programs including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific regulations.
- Facilitate return-to-work processes and accommodations in partnership with safety and operations.
- Maintain compliance documentation and track leave metrics.
Workers’ Compensation
- Act as primary contact for workers’ compensation cases, collaborating with safety, insurance carriers, and medical providers.
- Coordinate claims reporting, follow-up, and light-duty placement as needed.
- Support proactive safety initiatives through data collection and trend analysis.
Recruitment Support
- Assist the Talent Advisor during periods of high-volume recruitment by screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
- Assist with employment verifications and offer letter preparation as needed.
HR Policy and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Maintain personnel files and support audit and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the development and communication of HR policies and procedures.
Training and Development
- Support company-wide training initiatives including compliance, leadership development, and other HR related trainings.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in field-based or industrial environments such as waste, logistics, or manufacturing.
· Strong knowledge of employment law, payroll, and leave administration.
· Experience with onboarding and HRIS platforms required; ADP a plus
· Able to maintain confidentiality, balance multiple tasks, and work independently.
· SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent HR certification preferred.
Working Conditions:
· Full-time, on-site position with possibility of hybrid schedule
· Monday to Friday, typical business hours
· Office environment
· Flexibility to occasionally travel to in state (Colorado) sites
