Capability Unit

Metrea Management Ltd (“MAM”) is our global shared service providing support for the Capability Units (CU) in areas such as People, Finance, Legal, Strategy and Information Technology. The Investment Team sits within the Finance team and is responsible for all M&A and Investment activities, pricing and risk analysis, and capital raising.

Position Summary

MAM is hiring for an Investment Analyst who has a strong academic backgrounds and an interest in the Aerospace & Defence industry to strengthen the existing team. We are an information age, integrated provider of defence and security effects, with current operations in airborne ISR, Air-to-Air refuelling, software & electromagnetic hardware development, simulation and space.

A role with Metrea’s investment team is an opportunity to work for an entrepreneurial and fast-growing business as part of a streamlined management team with immediate exposure to C-level executives, working alongside a range of subject matter experts. The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of finance, investment fundamentals, risk analysis and M&A, and additionally be involved in adjacent business areas such as Strategy Execution, Research, and Solution Evaluation. Within the Investment Team, you will help with identifying, evaluating, and executing a range of acquisitions. The team you would be joining comprises former investment bankers with a wealth of M&A and finance experience.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Analyse and evaluate potential investment opportunities, including business models, key value drivers and investment risks
  • Create and analyse sophisticated financial models to assist in investment evaluation
  • Preparation of investment memoranda for Board approval
  • Assist with evaluation and implementation of transaction structuring alternatives
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (including subject matter experts and C-suite executives) to support the due diligence and execution process
  • Monitor ongoing financial, operational performance and risk exposure of portfolio companies
  • Prepare detailed investment analysis for organic growth opportunities in existing Metrea businesses
  • Work entrepreneurially in the team, incorporating Strategy Execution, Research, and Solution Evaluation, to gain a more holistic understanding of investment, as well as the wider Aerospace and Defence landscape

Skills And Experience

  • Highly motivated, numerate, with strong analytical skills, a technical mindset and excellent attention to detail
  • Outstanding academics from a leading university or business school
  • Intellectually curious with a strong desire to learn, both in core business function and adjacent areas
  • Organised and systematic approach; able to prioritise competing deadlines effectively
  • Excellent writing & communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Advantageous, But Not Required

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering or any relatable physical sciences (though any subject will be considered)
  • Experience / strong interest in Aerospace & Defence
  • Experience / strong interest in Investing and Corporate Finance
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager. The role will require regular work in the US and so any offer may be conditional upon the employee having the legal right to work in the US.
