Description

  • The role of the Drafting Technician at Microbest involves creating, modifying, and organizing Solid Models using SolidWorks, as well as managing engineering documentation in both physical and electronic formats. This position requires translating theoretical engineering concepts into solid models and ensuring that all necessary tolerances and specifications are accurately incorporated into drawings and other Microbest documentation. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software is a fundamental requirement, along with utilizing Microbest's ERP system and various Microsoft Office applications for documentation purposes. Strong teamwork skills are essential for collaborating with diverse individuals within the organization.
  • Create Technical Drawings: Under the direction of engineering management, use SolidWorks CAD software to generate solid models and drawings for specific manufacturing processes, tools, fixtures, gauges, and assemblies.
  • Create Process Documentation: Utilize the Microbest ERP system to develop process documents used during production, describing machining tolerances and inspection methods.
  • Update Technical Drawings: Keep prints up to date as new revisions are required.
  • Update Process Documentation: Maintain accuracy by updating Microbest ERP documents to reflect any changes.
  • Interact Successfully: Collaborate with peers and coworkers of all levels in the process and document creation to ensure accuracy and ease of use.
  • Document Control: Maintain the organization and structure of both physical and electronic engineering documents following Microbest Standard Work guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a draftsman, using electronic drafting software.
  • Ability to comprehend both written and verbal conceptual descriptions.
  • Familiarity with approved document flow in a manufacturing organization.
  • Capability to take personal ownership of projects and drive them to successful completion.
  • Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong team player with professional and courteous interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced CAD software skills, particularly in the most current version of SolidWorks experience using SURFCAM software would be a plus. EOE
