SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for activities involved with procurement and managing logistics services at favorable conditions for Schuler which involves ensuring best price, quality and on time services at the required location. Following Company’s Purchasing Policy and Procedures. Responsible for development of existing and new partners. Active communication with Service providers, project managers, affiliates and internal customers.



MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for material planning and coordination including domestic and international logistics procurement activities for Schuler North American affiliates.
  • Verify shipping documentation and ensure compliance of all statutory activities with related authorities and agents necessary for shipment of goods (e.g. Custom Clearance). Classify product family and ensure proper import duties. Maintain proper records in system. Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, frequency etc to optimize cost and time.
  • Early involvement in project bidding/planning stage and providing budgetary pricing for New equipment and Service Modernization projects. Pre planning for Ocean/air shipments
  • Proactively expedite and consolidate orders. Responsible for on time delivery @90%
  • Understanding and following quality systems and quality assurance procedures to select suppliers. Ensure proper documentation/NDA with 3rd Party before sending out any confidential information. Ensuring availability of Liability insurance before order placement.
  • Handle Fedex/DHL/UPS. Define and negotiate price structure. Settle Logistics/Insurance claims if any.
  • Define proper scope of work with project managers. Send out Request for Quote (RFQ), verify quotes for packing and commercial requirement, execute price comparison, confidently negotiate price, terms and conditions with forwarder and conclude negotiations and generate savings. Negotiate short & long term price frame agreements with Forwarders.
  • Verify and process purchasing requisitions in a timely manner with the proper documentation and within purchasing procedure and policies. Make order decisions based on cost, quality and delivery reliability. Verify supplier order confirmation.
  • Audit invoices and create Purchase orders.
  • Ensure On-time start and completion of activities and are completed within budget. Ensure On-time availability of material and expedite if necessary.
  • Active communication with other Buyers, Project Managers, Sales/Customer service department and affiliates.
  • Suggest process and cost optimization ideas and continuously improves procurement procedures and practices.
  • Experience is moving project cargo and dealing heavy haul specialty transport is an advantage
  • Coordinate activities with Shipping and Rigging specialist in Europe and South America and develop local supply chain.
  • Performs other purchasing related duties as needed.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain with at least 3 years in rigging or logistics function.
  • Knowledge of HS codes and custom (Import/Export) regulations
  • Experienced and confident negotiator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings is an advantage
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office) and SAP.
  • The position may occasionally require travel to local affiliates.
  • Self-learner and ability to self-develop and enhance job knowledge
  • Highly organized and time conscious
  • Possess strong analytical aptitude
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software

  • Fluent in English with advanced reading and writing skills
  • German Language skills would be a plus.
  • Visa holders/English as Second Language (ESL) individuals must take TOEFL exam and score above passing grade.
