Summary Statement
This role is responsible for all Toyal America, Inc. (TAI) safety, health and environmental activities, ensuring that solutions to safety, health, and environmental problems are followed through completion and insuring compliance with all Federal, State, Local and, where necessary, International regulatory standards.
Nature and Scope
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations, Toyal America, Inc.
This position is responsible for all safety, health, and environmental activities at TAI. The incumbent will coordinate activities with operations, technical, engineering, sales and personnel to assure the implementation of all safety/health/environmental for TAI and Federal and State mandated programs.
The incumbent is the coordinator for the Management Safety Committee, Union-Management Safety Committee, and the Accident Investigation Committee.
This position is responsible for maintaining compliance issues, providing Federal and State mandated training programs and ensuring all plant health programs in coordination with the Personnel manager.
The incumbent will be responsible for EPA activities at the plant facility to ensure compliance with all appropriate Illinois and Federal environmental regulations. This responsibility requires the incumbent to possess and maintain knowledge of Federal and State and Local laws and regulations pertaining to air quality, water quality, solid and hazardous wastes and any other environmental standard.
This position will inform management of compliance standards and any regulatory changes that may affect plant operations.
The incumbent will act as coordinator for the Management Environmental Committee to assist in the decision making of any environmental matters that may have the potential to affect the plant facility.
This position requires interaction with Consultants, Safety Specialists, and State and Federal agencies to maintain expertise on compliance issues.
Essential Functions
This position requires a 4-year college degree in science, engineering, or management and a minimum
5 years of industrial experience in project management and/or safety and environmental experience. The incumbent should have excellent communication skills and have a pro-active management style.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for all safety, health, and environmental activities of TAI including updating and implementing programs, supply ideas, and provide the support to management, supervision and plant employees to promote safety and environmental awareness.
- Maintain compliance and with all Federal and State agencies, OSHA and EPA regulations, NFPA standards, occupational hygiene and health legislation, advising management of any regulatory issues/changes that may affect plant operations.
- Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system for tracking all safety, health, and environmental issues and to maintain the coordination of all report forms and ensure operating permits are submitted on time to the proper designated agency.
- Investigates all accidents/injuries in conjunction with plant personnel. Notifies management of pertinent details, root cause and preventable measures
- Actively involved with worker’s compensation cases by providing liaison contact with the company physician to resolve corrective action for returning injured employees to productive work quickly.
- Responsible for coordinating with contractors on site to ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed.
- Develop and formulate TAI’s annual safety/environmental program goals to establish uniformity within the management staff.
- Recommend abatement procedures for identifying unsafe conditions and practices that have developed at the plant facility.
- Develop vulnerability determination for site security and assure TAI meets all Federal, State and Local requirements.
- Assist with and maintain ISO Systems as required.
- Participates in the development of the annual CAPEX budget. Responsible for small project management pertaining to SHE activities as well as general consultation with other project managers (initial design, PSSR, audits…).
- Work with the TAI Administration on site visits or other types of external audits relating to Property and Casualty issues.
- Working with peers at other Toyo Group companies on mutual issues of safety, health, environmental or regulatory matters such as Safety Data Sheets, Multi-lingual labeling and shipping/DOT regulations.
