Overview

The Associate Vice President of Clinical Applications is responsible for delivering best-in-class care experiences for our providers, nurses, and patients. This leader will be key to advancing and ensuring the success of our clinical transformation journey. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Associate VP of Clinical Applications will be an essential leader in driving clinical Information Technology strategies that allow ARH to maintain its exceptional quality of care and to improve patient outcomes. The Associate VP of Clinical Applications will ensure high quality patient-provider interactions with clinical healthcare IT infrastructure implementations across the system. Additionally, this position will maintain effective and responsive relationships with patients.

The Associate Vice President of Clinical Applications serves as a key member of IT Governance, while serving as an advocate in promoting the use of information technology in the clinical setting. Partners with clinicians for the design and implementation teams to translate clinician requirements into specifications for new and existing clinical systems.

Responsibilities

Typically directs multiple teams led by Senior Directors, Directors, and/or occasionally other VPs and senior individual contributors.

Directs processes for programs that highlight initiatives, activities, and achievements that bring positive visibility to the organization as a premier destination for quality care, a driver of advancement and development, and a leader in health for surrounding communities.

Builds, leads, and professionally develops internal Executive Management team.

Manages the performance of clinical applications and optimization team to meet established project, customer service, and financial targets.

Leads initial onsite practice operation assessments for new practices to the company.

Coordinates clinical applications and optimization team in the implementation of new practice operations as part of service line expansion or new practice startup.

Guides directors and managers to implement and manage processes for teams.

Manages team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development.

Creates a purpose driven culture in which decisions and actions are strategically informed by patient, customer and employee needs by aligning the organization's mission, vision, and core values of improving health and promoting well-being with the strategies and goals of the team and enterprise.

Qualifications

Education (experience can be substituted for education)

Bachelor's Degree in related field Required

Work Experience (education can be substituted for experience)

  • Minimum 5 years of IT management experience and 5 years in a senior IT management position.
  • Prior experience working in a complex, large scale, matrix health system required.
  • In depth knowledge of clinical operations and clinical applications at scale required.
  • Prior experience implementing and transforming large scale, integrated software solutions/clinical healthcare IT infrastructure preferred.
  • Prior experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Possess excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate with physicians.

Drive consensus amongst physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and other stakeholders.

Maintain a professional approach in all situations.

Protect the confidentiality of patient and business information.

Exercise management leadership.

Understand the modern healthcare field and its direction.

Continually work with IT staff, Executive Leaders, and Medical Staff on an ongoing basis as system upgrades/enhancements are completed.
