**SUMMARY**

The Mechanical Design Engineer designs, develops or redesigns new or

Existing Company Products. Works From Requirements Or Instructions To

design and develop new components or redesign existing components to

improve company products. Determines and establishes specifications

through engineering calculations and layouts. May oversee assembly and

tests of engineering prototypes. Communicates with vendors to obtain

information and assistance.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

• Responsible for identifying special characteristics in the design of
  
  

products.

• Reviews customer source control drawings, specification control
  
  

drawings and other applicable specifications to determine

requirements and/or feasibility of product.

• Performs preliminary and advanced work in development of working
  
  

layouts and final master drawings

adequate for detailing parts and units of design for new proposals and

current designs.

• Participates in engineering and general design reviews as required.
• Assists with the preparation of proposal documentation, technical
  
  

data such as qualification test procedures, reports, component

maintenance manuals, etc.

• Performs liaison function between Engineering staff and all internal
  
  

departments, including Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Sales,

Production, Accounting, Metal Finishing and Assembly.

• Interacts with vendors and customers on engineering design issues.
• Checks design work of other engineering department members including
  
  

layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts,

geometrics, dimensioning, and other out-put as directed.

• Keeps Engineering Supervisor advised of work status, workload,
  
  

problems, and progress related to work assignments.

**OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**

• Bachelors degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5-10 years of
  
  

experience within Automotive/Aerospace manufacturing environment or

any equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Experienced in designing injection molded and sheet metal fabricated
  
  

components.

• Knowledgeable of heat transfer and air handling design.
• Experienced and knowledgeable with Pro Engineer application.
• Automotive or Commercial Vehicle HVAC systems experience preferred.
• Mechanical plastic and injection design experience.
  
  

The budgeted range for this role is \$85,000.00 USD - \$110,000.00 USD

per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate

representative of the desired level of experience for the position.
