Responsibilities
- Leadership and Mentorship: Oversee a team of quality engineers and CMM programmers, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure the continuous development of team members. Foster a collaborative environment where individuals are empowered to solve complex quality issues and contribute to process improvements.
- Quality Assurance: Lead the development, improvement, and implementation of quality plans across product families. Address non-compliance/non-conformance issues, oversee root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are executed. Actively participate in First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, special process requests, and MRB tickets.
- Process Improvement: Drive process improvement initiatives, utilizing tools such as MSAs, SPC analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies. Identify opportunities for process enhancements, lead change initiatives, and ensure successful implementation across teams.
- Strategic Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support for quality-related issues, conduct detailed root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions. Support new product design reviews, quality assessments, and critical decision-making processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the Lead quality function in collaboration with manufacturing engineers, production teams, and quality inspectors. Work closely with senior management and other departments to implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality standards. Facilitate presentations to customers in-person or via teleconference as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ensure that all quality documentation, including inspection records, measurement data, and non-conformance reports, are accurately maintained and compliant with regulatory standards. Lead the generation of reports for senior leadership and customers.
- Supplier Quality Management: Oversee the supplier quality management process, including supplier audits, performance evaluations, and addressing quality issues. Establish long-term relationships with key suppliers to enhance product quality and ensure alignment with Pursuit Aerospace standards.
- Training and Development: Develop and lead training programs to ensure the team is well-versed in quality processes, inspection techniques, and evolving industry standards. Promote continuous professional development and knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering
- At least 8 years of experience in quality engineering within the aerospace industry
- At least 3 years of experience managing a team
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations
- Demonstrated experience with quality management systems, inspection techniques, including CMM inspection
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and manage a team of engineers and technicians.
- Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies, with a proven ability to implement these tools to improve quality outcomes.
- Extensive experience with quality management systems (QMS) and industry standards (ISO 9001, TS16949, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of advanced quality tools and methodologies (statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, FMEA, etc.).
- Proficient in the use of quality software (e.g., Minitab, SAP, or other ERP systems).
- Experience with audit management, both internal and external, and the ability to lead and support regulatory and customer audits.
- Experience in supplier quality management and the ability to drive improvements in the supply chain.
- Proficiency in CAD, QMS and ERP software.\
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams and with customers.
