Manufacturing Engineer - #1404446

Cimarron is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the development of Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner, a Boeing spacecraft supporting NASA's Commercial Crew Program, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Key Duties:
- Develop manufacturing procedures using PDM data and systems engineering requirements within a standardized BDS manufacturing tool suite.
- Execute precision manufacturing techniques for spacecraft subsystems, including precision drilling, alignment, assembly, orbital tube welding, and tooling verification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies during flight vehicle manufacturing, supporting root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and material review board processes.
- Provide input to integrated master schedules, ensuring accurate forecasting, planning, and execution of defined work scope.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to integrate technical solutions and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Develop, refine, and maintain conceptual designs, ensuring alignment with program architecture and build requirements.
- Create and maintain manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work instructions, and illustrations to document as-built configurations.
- Lead manufacturing activities, resolving technical challenges and ensuring compliance with engineering and quality standards.
- Support the adoption of new engineering principles, advanced technologies, and innovative manufacturing concepts.
- Assist in the application of Lean principles and process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
- Engage with professional associations, suppliers, IPTs, and internal teams to drive innovation, skill development, and industry collaboration.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

- Ability to work any assigned shift (1st or 2nd) and overtime, if needed.
- 5 or more years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Experience leading the manufacturing of complex mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems.
- Proficiency in generating installation and assembly work instructions using Model-Based Instructions (MBI) within a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of non-conformance management processes and corrective action implementation.
- Proven ability to serve as a liaison between design engineering and production teams for mechanical and electrical hardware assemblies and installations.
- Experience developing job kits to drive part demand and align with the master production schedule.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing best practices, standards, principles, and industry techniques.
- Ability to provide innovative technical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges requiring creativity and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated success in leading projects from initiation to completion, with experience in a project leadership role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior personnel and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience supporting the Integrated Product Team in meeting schedules, performance, quality, cost avoidance, and savings.
- Experience in creating and updating parts allocation and demand in the Manufacturing Build of Material (MBOM).
- Ability to communicate technical manufacturing specifications and engineering assembly and installation instructions to technicians, quality inspectors, and other engineers in a clear and concise manner.
- Familiarity with Lean principles.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical reports.
- Experience developing plans for released engineering using Boeing’s Manufacturing Execution System common image (MESci).
- Experience performing Root Cause Analysis.
- Degree obtained from an ABET-accredited program.
