GEI Consultants, Inc. continues to grow and expand, both in our technical services offerings and geographic coverage. GEI is currently seeking Staff Professionals to help expand its growing business within our Buffalo, NY office.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Under supervision of senior staff, candidates will work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the region. Responsibilities include conducting environmental site assessments, overseeing the advancement of test borings and the installation and sampling of monitoring wells, sediment sample collection, vapor investigations, and performing aquifer testing and environmental sampling. The role also involves environmental compliance and permitting opportunities.
- Candidates will be responsible for providing technical oversight to subcontractors, including evaluation of field activities, and assisting in the development of investigation workplans.
- In addition, candidates can expect to perform data management and quantitative analysis, prepare reports, and assist in the preparation of and delivery of technical presentations with clients and/or regulators.
- Opportunities to perform groundwater flow and transport modeling as well as other quantitative analysis in the field of groundwater and contaminant transport.
- Assist senior engineers with remedial alternatives analysis, design of site remedies including excavation, in-situ solidification, in-situ remediation, subsurface barrier walls, sediment caps, and pump-and-treat systems for hydraulic control and contaminant removal.
- Outline, compose, and present written arguments based on site-specific data and scientific judgment. Clear, concise, persuasive writing is a core requirement for this role.
- Apply analytical methods and graphical presentation tools and integrate information to support scientific conclusions.
- Collaborate with team leads locally and nationally to support program initiatives and needs.
- This position has a field component. Travel, including overnight travel, may be requested. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions, year-round.
- B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, or Civil/Environmental Engineering. M.S. is preferred.
- 0-3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting. Knowledge of NY environmental regulations a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with technical analysis software, CAD, MS Office, MS Project, and PowerPoint. Experience with GIS software a plus.
- The candidate must be willing and able to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
- Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- 40 hr. HAZWOPER is a plus.
