What does a role as a Director of Transportation look like?

The Director of Transportation will oversee all aspects of fleet management and transportation for Muscle Foods USA. Their primary responsibility is to manage a fleet of delivery drivers and trucks by ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of our products. Maximize utilization and capacity of all trucks and routes to drive on time customer deliveries by monitoring order routing to ensure all orders that should be on a delivery route are added to the routes.

  • Plan, develop, and implement transportation strategies and initiatives
  • Provide leadership and direction to all drivers and members of the transportation team
  • Supervise daily transportation operations
  • Ensure dispatch is routing orders correctly and providing our drivers with the most efficient route
  • Monitor driver productivity and implement strategies to improve delivery times
  • Work with sales and customer service to ensure delivery order accuracy
  • Develop and maintain safety protocols
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including FMCSA and DOT guidelines
  • Monitor and address HOS violations
  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings with all drivers
  • Ensure utilization of all trucks
  • Oversee the use of the company’s TMS system
  • Conduct driver behavior coaching based off driver safety metrics
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate transportation activities
  • Manage relationships with 3 rd party vendors and contractors.
  • Manage relationships with all outside carriers
