Job Summary

The Director, Marketing – San Diego, reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, develops and executes comprehensive marketing strategies and programs for Rady Children's Health and Foundation in San Diego. This role supports the overall organization as the premier pediatric healthcare non-profit in Southern California and elevates its reputation nationwide. It ensures that brand, story and marketing for Rady Children's Health and Rady Children's Health Foundation are aligned for maximum impact and amplification in San Diego. The position advances Rady Children's Health's position as one of the top choices for destination medicine and works in alignment with the enterprise digital marketing leader to advance this goal. Works closely with all marketing and communications leaders for Rady Children's Health in Orange County to establish and preserve reputation for excellence in Southern California.

Minimum Qualifications

8 Years of Experience

Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience of developing strategic marketing programs.

Demonstrated expertise in crafting and executing comprehensive strategies that consistently elevatebrand visibility, enhance organizational reputation, drive business impact, and foster meaningful engagement.

Experience within a health system is desired.

Outstanding leadership skills with proven ability to inspire and motivate staff, peers and stakeholders.

Demonstrated expertise and proven success in marketing, including strategy setting and driving results.

Strong verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to craft compelling messages and stories that resonate with diverse audiences.

Strong presentation skills.

Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and brand management, including understanding of changing market dynamics and trends.

Ability to build positive, effective relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally, work from a position of influence, and develop effective cross-functional relationships with senior leaders and diverse management teams.

Proven ability to operate under pressure with multiple concurrent campaigns and objectives underway.

Ability to execute on strategic vision, on time and within budget, holding team accountable for outcomes, while at the same time being very hands on.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions and escalating issues as appropriate.

Highly flexible and someone who can adapt quickly to a changing environment. Comfort working effectively within a dynamic, occasionally ambiguous environment is important.

Experience and proficiency in annual planning, including marketing plan implementation and evaluation.

Demonstrated commitment to respecting differences and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

A proactive problem solver who can anticipate challenges before they arise and take initiative to resolve them.

A creative thinker who brings fresh ideas to the table and isn't afraid to try new approaches.

Strong attention to detail, ensuring campaigns, messaging, and deliverables are polished and consistent.

A strategic mindset paired with operational excellence — someone who can zoom out to see the big picture and zoom in to execute.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ Years of Experience

Master's degree in business administration or marketing.

Experience within a healthcare system or in another regulated industry

The current salary range for this position is $64.37 to $88.51

Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable. The range listed above does not represent the full salary range for the position but is the expected hiring range for qualified candidates. Compensation decisions consider a variety of factors including experience, education, licensure, unique skillsets, organizational need, and internal equity.
