Brief Description

We are looking for a driven and curious Supply Chain Intern to join Baystar for the summer. This internship offers the

opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of petrochemical supply chains. The intern will support

key supply chain functions including Procurement, Logistics, Customer Service, and Sales & Operations Planning

(S&OP), all critical to ensuring the efficient flow of polyethylene products from plant to customer.

Responsibilities

Logistics Support:

  • Coordinate with logistics providers on shipment scheduling, documentation, and tracking of polyethylene


products (resin, pellets, etc.).

  • Help resolve transportation or delivery issues and support freight optimization initiatives.
  • Contribute to KPI tracking for carrier performance and freight spend analysis.


Customer Service:

  • Support order entry, confirmation, and fulfillment through close coordination with internal teams.
  • Assist in managing customer communications related to order status, delivery timelines, and issue resolution.
  • Help track inventory availability and monitor backorders to ensure customer satisfaction.


Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP):

  • Participate in demand and supply planning meetings, assisting in data preparation and analysis.
  • Help track polyethylene demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration between Sales, Production, and Supply Chain teams.


Procurement Support:

  • Assist in raw material planning and tracking for polyethylene production.
  • Help with vendor communications, purchase order processing, and contract data management.
  • Support analysis of supplier performance, lead times, and material cost trends.

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemical Engineering, Industrial


Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in the petrochemical industry, with a willingness to learn about polymer supply chains.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Physical Capacity Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to:

  • Follow safety requirements for the role
  • Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
  • Lift up to 10 pounds
  • Walk safely in and around industrial areas
  • Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
