This position is responsible for all plant operations related to Quality Control and Research & Development at our UltraDeck facility. The personality traits desired are self-motivated, creative, organized, and independent. This position will work closely with Team Members and Managers to improve UltraDeck products and ensure quality standards and procedures are being followed.

Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the Quality Control Team. The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for communication and leadership of these Team Members. Ensure each shift is staffed with two QC Team Members and have alternates trained in.
  • Manage, maintain, and monitor the Plant Quality Control program. This includes monitoring inspections completed, following up on issues identified, creating new inspections, and reporting to General Manager on identified issues, and proposed solutions.
  • Work with 3rd party testing party on proper certifications associated with the production lines. This will involve communicating with the 3rd party, overseeing testing, and reporting on results.
  • Manage the Quality Control Lab and all needed testing and reporting involved.
  • The Quality Control Manager will play an essential role in overseeing the creation and management of new and existing Standard Operating Procedures.

Research & Development Responsibilities

  • Meet with the Plant General Manager and Product Manager to discuss product ideas. The goal is to keep UltraDeck competitive with the market.
  • Conduct market research and evaluate similar products and their functions.
  • Redesign existing products to enhance functionality or reduce costs with keeping in mind the guest experience.
  • Create design projects and specification sheets. Each product should have specifications and standards.
  • Present product designs and execute trails of new designs and processes.
  • Test prototype products for functionality, ease-of-use, and longevity.
  • Resolve product issues by using research and data collection to offer and implement solutions.
  • Oversee the production process.

Skills/Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience with Midwest Manufacturing or equivalent industry experience and/or training.
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Able to write and speak clearly and accurately.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Able to tactfully deal with guests and Team Members.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry.
  • Primary hours will be Monday through Friday; however, UltraDeck is a 24/7 plant and the right candidate will need to be flexible to work with the team. This position will be required to work one Saturday a month.
