Job Summary
The Principal Nuclear Decommissioning Advisor is primarily responsible for providing on-sight oversight of SDG&E's interest in the decommissioning of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). This role supports SDG&E in decommissioning regulatory proceedings by developing and providing technical testimony. Work location is at SDG&E and on-site at SONGS. To be successful in this role, the Principal Nuclear Decommissioning Advisor will establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including other co-owners, financial stakeholders, the decommissioning general contractor and regulatory agencies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
This position is 100% on-site and consists of a 4 day work week, 10 hours per day work schedule. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move about the inside and outside of the location to access office equipment, etc. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a computer, copy machine, etc.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site oversight of SDG&E’s interests in the decommissioning of SONGS, ensuring alignment with project goals, financials, and safety standards.
- Serve as SDG&E’s representative in meetings addressing project schedule, costs, risks, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct frequent site inspections to monitor work progress, document decommissioning status through photos, and maintain day-to-day awareness of ongoing activities.
- Participate in daily planning meetings, weekly status updates, and debriefs related to inspection and project milestones.
- Deliver regular status reports to SDG&E executives and, if required, provide testimony to the CPUC regarding decommissioning operations.
- Monitor site safety, project risks, and budget performance, with consideration of CPUC and NRC regulations and their operational implications.
- Apply technical knowledge of commercial nuclear sites and senior-level project management expertise to ensure effective oversight and execution.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
- Ability to develop and write testimony for regulatory bodies, such as the California Public Utilities Commission, or other government entities. Advanced Required

- Ability to communicate with all levels internally and externally. Advanced Required
- Deep understanding of project finance principles, budget tracking, cost allocation, and forecasting
- Familiarity with NRC decommissioning regulations and compliance best practices
- Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with regulators, co-owners, contractors, and financial stakeholders
- Experience managing large, complex contracts with cost validation and performance monitoring
- Proficiency in technical writing for reports, regulatory filings, and internal documentation
- Ability to represent the company effectively in meetings, board sessions, and interagency collaborations
- Skilled in managing change and adapting to regulatory or project-related shifts
- Knowledge of safety and environmental standards specific to nuclear site decommissioning
- Competence in interpreting and presenting complex data using Excel, Power BI, or dashboards
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in evolving project conditions
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field is required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field is preferred.
- Regulated utility industry experience preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including managing large and complex contracts or projects is required.
- Experience with nuclear decommissioning is preferred.
- Travel up to 5%
