What You'll Do:
System & Network Management:
- Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, software applications, servers, and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Monitoring System Performance: Regularly monitoring system logs, CPU usage, memory usage, network traffic, and other metrics to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues proactively.
- Applying Updates and Patches: Keeping all software and firmware up-to-date with the latest patches and security updates to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Network Management: Overseeing the organization's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, ensuring reliable connectivity and implementing network security measures.
- Technical Support: Providing technical assistance and support to end-users for various IT-related issues, ranging from simple software questions to complex hardware problems.
- User Account Management: Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts, managing permissions and access rights to ensure users have appropriate access to resources while maintaining security.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Facilitating the IT aspects of employee onboarding (setting up accounts, providing equipment) and offboarding (revoking access, data backup).
- Implementing Security Protocols: Deploying and enforcing security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and systems from internal and external threats.
- Managing Security Tools: Installing and managing security software such as firewalls, antivirus programs, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
- Security Audits and Monitoring: Conducting regular security audits, monitoring systems for suspicious activity, and responding to security breaches and threats.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Implementing and managing data backup solutions, ensuring regular backups are performed, and developing and testing disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Hardware and Software Procurement: Assisting with the procurement of IT hardware and software, ensuring compatibility and meeting organizational needs.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generating reports on system performance, security incidents, and support metrics.
- Research and Recommendation: Researching new technologies and solutions to improve IT infrastructure efficiency, security, and performance, and making recommendations to management.
- Vendor Management: Interacting with IT vendors for support, procurement, and service management.
Job Requirements:
- Basic understanding of Operating Systems (Windows is usually key, some exposure to macOS or Linux is a plus).
- Familiarity with computer hardware components and basic troubleshooting.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts (what is an IP address, DNS, how does Wi-Fi work).
- Awareness of basic cybersecurity principles (why strong passwords matter, recognizing phishing).
- Experience with common office software suites (like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to approach technical issues logically and follow troubleshooting steps.
- Communication Skills: Clear and patient communication, both written and verbal, to assist users who may not be tech-savvy.
- Eagerness to Learn: A strong willingness to learn new technologies and skills quickly.
- Customer Service: A helpful and positive attitude when assisting colleagues.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to keep track of tasks and prioritize basic support requests.
