What You Will Be Doing

  • Assisting in preparing and setting up materials, equipment, and learning environments for workshops and academic sessions
  • Providing logistical, operational, and technical support to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Facilitating and monitoring student participation, providing additional assistance to keep students engaged
  • Coordinating schedules and managing transitions between sessions

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Providing direct emotional or motivational coaching to students (that's the Guide's role)
  • Lecturing or delivering primary instruction
  • Simply monitoring students on computers - we expect active engagement in supporting learning

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities

Provide effective support for Guides in delivering Alpha's 3 commitments to students: ensuring academic success, fostering life skills development, and nurturing a love for learning. This involves assisting with session preparation, facilitating student engagement, and maintaining a productive learning environment.

Basic Requirements

  • Willingness to work in person at our Austin or Brownsville campus
  • Ability to commit to a regular part-time schedule of at least 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8 am - 4 pm during the school year (up to 30 hours available)
  • Currently enrolled in college or previously completed some college coursework
  • Experience working with kids and supporting educational staff (e.g. teaching assistant, camp counselor)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Technical troubleshooting abilities
  • Adaptable problem-solving mindset
  • Kid-friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Legal right to work in the US without visa sponsorship

Working with Crossover

This is a part-time (15 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover. The compensation level for this role is $15 USD/hour, which equates to $11,250 USD/year assuming 15 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
