Description

Position Summary

The Academic Dean (PK4–12th Grade) is a visionary and strategic academic leader responsible for fostering continuity and coherence in curriculum and instruction across all grade levels. The primary focus of this role is to enhance vertical alignment from early childhood through high school and to drive initiatives that support the sustained academic growth and achievement of all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Leadership
  • Oversee the evaluation, development, and alignment of curriculum across grade levels to ensure seamless progression in academic standards and skills.
  • Collaborate with division heads and department chairs to ensure coherence in instructional practices, scope and sequence, and learning objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to incorporate research-based best practices and ensure curricular relevance and rigor.
  • Instructional Oversight and Support
  • Support faculty in implementing differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Coordinate professional development efforts focused on instructional excellence and cross-grade articulation.
  • Facilitate collaboration between grade-level teams and subject-area departments to enhance instructional consistency.
  • Academic Performance and Data Analysis
  • Monitor and analyze academic performance metrics to identify trends, gaps, and areas for targeted support.
  • Design and implement strategies and interventions to improve student achievement and reduce academic disparities.
  • Communicate academic expectations and progress benchmarks to all stakeholders, including faculty, students, and parents.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
  • Serve as a key member of the academic leadership team, contributing to school-wide strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence across all divisions.
  • Build strong partnerships with faculty, parents, and external educational consultants to support student success.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching and leadership experience in a PK–12 educational setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and instructional supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of child development and the academic and developmental needs of students from PK through high school.
