Compensation: $44,000 + Benefits (that currently include):

  • Medical (Anthem): 3 copay/deductible options; base plan is $40/paycheck
  • Vision (Mutual of Omaha): $60 per year; $130 hardware allowance
  • Dental (Mutual of Omaha): $500 per year; $1,750 annual benefit
  • Life: 1 x Salary to $100K; paid by CIRI
  • Voluntary Life: Available to employees and family
  • Disability: 60% of earnings; paid by CIRI
  • Identity Theft: Optional coverage; paid by employees

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide initial resettlement support, social, and acculturation services to Cuban and Haitians Entrants and other Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) designated populations. Identify needs, plan action steps and make referrals to ensure successful resettlement. This position is funded through 9/30/25 with the possibility of extension.

Essential Job Functions

  • Learn and comply with applicable requirements of state, local and federal programs.
  • Become proficient in using multiple data base platforms.
  • Perform initial arrival screenings and intakes.
  • Provide ongoing intensive comprehensive support and advocacy for initial 90 day resettlement period, connecting the client to other refugee case managers for ongoing services such as employment, education, etc.
  • Provide core services including, but not limited to home visits, ESL/school registration, cultural orientations, and assistance with State social services and medical appointments.
  • Organize and coordinate transportation orientation for all clients.
  • Schedule and facilitate a monthly Cultural Orientation and facilitate participation in Refugee Health Promotion events.
  • Comply with detailed documentation requirements and complete in a timely manner case related documentation, paperwork, and reports for federal auditing purposes.
  • Create new files for each arrival, record case notes for all communications and maintain files up to date at all times.
  • Make appropriate and necessary referrals for all services and any other services facilitating community integration.
  • Provide transportation to clients as needed to ensure access to services.
  • Attend a weekly supervision consultation with manager and complete a yearly evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree with a concentration in a relevant field (social work, teaching, anthropology, psychology, international studies, women's studies, public health)
  • At least 2 years' experience in a client-facing employment position and / or 1 year experience working with vulnerable and/or underserved populations.
  • Familiarity with the Cuban or Haitian culture preferred.
  • French Creole Language skills is preferred.
  • Superior organizational, communication and prioritization skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with other staff and service providers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with client databases
  • Must have reliable car, valid U.S. driver's license and valid auto insurance
  • Ability to physically assist with apartment set up, moving furniture, and carrying household-kitchen items
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional after-hours services
