Overview: As a Data Scientist at Archrock, you will play a crucial role in driving efficiency, reliability, and optimization within our fleet operations through the application of advanced machine learning techniques and data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Machine Learning Development: You will be responsible for executing machine learning projects aimed at optimizing fleet runtime, enhancing reliability, predicting and preventing failures, and planning maintenance activities efficiently.
- Data Analysis and Insight Generation: Utilizing large datasets from various sources, you will analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for operational improvements within our gas compressor fleet.
- IT Infrastructure Maintenance and Optimization: You will contribute to the design, maintenance, and optimization of IT infrastructure systems that support the machine learning capabilities, ensuring seamless and efficient data processing.
- Continuous Improvement: A proactive approach to continuous improvement will be essential, as you actively seek opportunities to enhance existing processes, models, and algorithms for better performance and results.
- Personal Development: You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and relevant technologies. Seeking out personal development opportunities and acquiring new skills will be encouraged to maintain a cutting-edge approach.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in executing machine learning projects and applying data science techniques to real-world challenges.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar, and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization.
- Experience in designing and optimizing IT infrastructure to support machine learning workflows, including SQL database schemas.
- Knowledge of gas compressor fleet operations, the oil and gas industry, or related fields will be advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- 10-15% travel may be required
- Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed.
- Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE (includes respiratory protection medical requirements) as required by role.
- Frequently required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
- Constantly required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance.
- Occasionally required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
- Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet.
- Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
