Pure Power is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer with a passion for the study and analysis of utility scale solar power systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for renewable energy to join a growing practice in our well-respected company.

Pure Power is an engineering firm specializing in designing big, challenging, and high-profile Solar PV systems. As a full-service engineering firm, we create the electrical and structural drawings and calculation packages for bidding, permits, and construction, as well as supporting the lead up to the full engineering drawings, primarily interconnection support and electrical/structural feasibility studies. An essential aspect of our design is the structural analysis of buildings and structures that support the solar PV system.

Specific Duties Include
Required Qualifications
This position will be based out of our exciting Kansas City, KS office with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-office and remotely weekly schedule. We also provide a parking spot for the days when an employee wishes to drive to the office and for those that utilize public transportation, we will cover the costs associated with traveling to and from the office.
Compensation And Benefits
We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. We pay 100% of our employee medical, dental, and vision benefits costs, offer 401k matching, commuter benefits and much more!
Salary Range
$110,000- 135,000 Annually (commensurate with experience)

Play a key role in our company's engineering & design of large Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage, & systems above 20MW in size.
Specific Duties Include
- Perform power system studies and demonstrate a good working knowledge of power system planning, design and operation.
- Ability to utilize power system software tools required for performing power system engineering studies such as:
- Cable Thermal
- Load Flow (including reactive studies)
- Short Circuit (w/ equipment evaluation)
- Protective Coordination
- Arc Flash
- Ground Grid
- Transient Analysis (TOV/TRV)
- Prepare written reports which explain the purpose, methodology, data requirements, recommendations and observations of power system studies.
- Ability to analyze results and develop alternatives to identified problems.
- Perform calculations, analysis, and evaluations as per project requirements.
- Contributing to or writing technical papers.
- Provide mentorship and training to new and junior engineering personnel.
- Provide design level support to the utility scale engineering team and be a resource for the company.
- Be able to work independently and with others while maintaining a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
- Develop standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Be able to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Be able to manage multiple projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are met
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience designing electrical power systems & the tasks listed above.
- Familiarity with the NEC, NESC, IEEE, & ANSI standards.
- Proficiency with the AutoCAD
- Proficiency with power study software such as ETAP, SKM, CYMCAP and WinIGS
- BS in electrical engineering or other related discipline.
- Ability to communicate among construction, technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company.
- Experience with:
- Designing commercial & utility scale solar PV/BESS systems.
- Traditional building design with an MEP firm.
- Distribution Pole Line Design
- Protection & Controls.
- Medium Voltage engineering.
- Hands on installing, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting solar PV systems.
- NABCEP certification.
- PE license.
