Who We Are?

Wine Rack is the retail division of Arterra Wines Canada with 164 store locations, selling 150 Ontario and International Canadian blended wines, across the province. We are proud to represent our Canadian wines, brands and culture in our stores and communities.

What Are We Looking For

In this role, the person will oversee all daily retail store operations, leading a minimum of 5 store locations in the Brighton & Picton ON region, working with Wine Merchants and Team Leads. They will be responsible for travelling to various locations on a weekly basis. The Area Manager will ensure through the use of training and development of their store teams, implementation of corporate strategies and executional mandates. This role is accountable to ensure Area sales and EBIDTA goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership Skills- Builds organizational talent by providing coaching, feedback and support to enhance the skills and performance of the Wine Merchants and Team Leads. Experience recruiting and building high performance teams. Provides leadership to ensure employees are motivated and engaged to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Drive for Results- Actively involved in sales and labor planning/tracking to ensure goals are met. Ability to monitor and analyze sales performance, identify areas of improvement and take corrective action as needed. Managing work schedules according to budgeted hours and business needs of each location. Monitor inventory levels and ensure inventory is effectively managed. Ensure our service and merchandising standards are executed as required.
  • Strategic Thinking- ability to logically evaluate information, solve problems and make accurate decisions independently. Ability to assess data from various sources, identify trends, challenges and opportunities within the stores and devise strategic plans to improve performance and achieve goals. Takes initiative to proactively address critical issues, shows a strong sense of urgency towards solving problems. Moves quickly from identifying problems to proposing solutions without being prompted.
  • Communicates Effectively- Ability to deliver clear and concise communications to store teams. Takes time to recognize strong performances and courage to conduct timely and critical coaching. Ability to conduct yearly performance reviews.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have access to a vehicle and a valid G license and must also live in the area.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in the retail or hospitality business
  • 2 years of experience leading and supporting multiple retail locations
  • Smart Serve
  • First Aid certification
  • Excel and basic Microsoft office experience

Special Conditions

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to address store issues outside of regular working hours
  • Must be available to work key times based on the business needs
  • Participate in quarterly inventory counts
  • Physical demands of the job include lifting up to 21 kilograms, standing, reaching, bending, and climbing ladders

Compensation: Budgeted Range – $57,935.00 - $74,974.00.

The budgeted range takes into account several factors and qualifications that are considered in making compensation decisions including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements. Base pay is only one component of the total rewards offering at Arterra.
