**Job Summary**
The Welder/Fabricator performs welding and fabrication duties,
maintenance, and repair work on equipment and vehicles. The job performs
maintenance and repair work on facilities, vehicles, and equipment in
the assigned department. This work is performed under the direct
supervision of the Shop Manager. The primary function of an employee in
this role requires advanced knowledge of welding techniques, knowledge
of maintaining and repairing buildings, vehicles, and equipment, and the
ability to operate power tools, motor vehicles, and light, medium, and
heavy equipment.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities(may vary by assignment)**
The Welder / Fabricator assumes daily responsibility and performs tasks
in the following areas:
heavy equipment in the Public Works Shop and on various job sites,
as needed,

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is
frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands

hands and arms, and operate a motor vehicle or job-related equipment.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with
assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the

This position may work in an indoor shop or an outdoor welding
environment, depending on repair or fabrication requests and needs. The
welder/fabricator may work around fumes, sparks, pressurized gases,

- Performs welding duties, including repairing equipment, and
- Performs maintenance and repair on equipment and vehicles,
heavy equipment in the Public Works Shop and on various job sites,

- Inspects and determines if equipment is safe to operate, and then
- Fabricates parts as needed to ensure continued operation of County
- Stays current on knowledge and skills by attending training sessions
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessary to aid the department

**Competency Requirements**
The Welder / Fabricator obtains, possesses, and deploys the following

**Knowledge Of:**
- Methods and techniques of welding, fabrication, diagnosis,
- Equipment, tools, and materials used for general and specialized
- Federal, state, local, and other applicable buildings, and safety
equipment, power tools, and PPE,
- How to find and follow manufacturer specifications, perform
**Skills To:**
- Pass a 1G,2G,3G,4G,5G, and 6G weld test,
- Perform specialized welding and fabrication, including but not
brazing,
- Weld and repair steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other needed
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, specialized welding, cutting
**Ability To:**
- Always operate with a professional demeanor, and communicate
successful job performance,
- Complete assignments in a timely fashion, work on multiple projects,
- Run, operate and or move heavy equipment into the repair facility,
- Operate a personal computer and job-related software applications.
# Minimum Education, Experience and Training
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required,
- A current Idaho driver\'s license is required,
- Five (5) years of in-field welding and fabricating experience is
- A Welding/Fabrication certification or graduation from an accredited
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides
position\'s essential functions successfully may be considered.
