About the role:
The Deputy Director of the UC Merced Office of Undergraduate Admission serves as the chief operating officer for Undergraduate Admission, acting on behalf of the Director in their absence. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, overseeing functions such as Evaluations and Operations, Admissions Systems, the Welcome Center, and on-campus admissions events. The Deputy Director collaborates with the Director on budget matters and manages discrete admissions and recruitment programs, formulating policies and procedures, and developing long and short-term organizational goals. Additionally, this role oversees all admissions evaluation, processing, articulation, degree progress audits, and information systems operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures for the processing and evaluation of freshmen and transfer applicants at UC Merced.
What you will be doing:
- As a member of the Office of Admissions management team, responsible for setting unit priorities, operational policies/procedures, & facilitating coordination, cooperation, & communication among all segments of the unit.
- Analyze potential goals in terms of emerging needs & methodologies: service impact; staffing & fiscal resources; critical resources; prog. adjustments or policy modifications.
- Participates in the design and implementation of staff training, development of reader materials and evaluation processes.
- Provides leadership to the Admissions Evaluation that updates materials, selects sample/norming applications, and trains and monitors Comprehensive Review readers of freshman and transfer applicants. Participates in primary and secondary review process of freshman applicants.
- Serves as liaison between Admissions and UC Merced Enrollment Marketing and Communications team to ensure timely communication and consolidation of feedback on new and ongoing marketing efforts (publications, CRM communication, email campaigns, etc.).
- Works with the Director and other UC Merced administrators to achieve the enrollment targets of new freshman and transfer students. D2. Advises the Director and management team on activities and services that maintain strong and beneficial relationships with high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations.
What we would like to see from you:
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution
- 5 Years of experience in a College Admissions Leadership role with a focus on systems and data operations.
- Experience in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing admissions, recruitment, evaluation, technical and yield activities.
- Experience in budget projections, resource management, report preparation, and presentation.
- Human resource leadership skills including the ability to effectively motivate staff members in the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the unit.
- Ability to relate and work well with diverse faculty, administrators, staff, students, families and the general public.
- Effective interpersonal skills, and excellent public speaking and writing skills.
What’s in it for you:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000. Relocation assistance available
