The Opportunity
As we expand our technology platform and accelerate our product delivery, AssetMark is seeking a Head of Quality Assurance to lead a transformation of our QA practice. This role will report directly to the SVP, Head of Product Engineering and be a key member of the engineering leadership team.
You’ll inherit a globally distributed team of 20–25 QA engineers. Your mission: take a legacy QA practice and evolve it into a cutting-edge, fully integrated quality engineering discipline that partners seamlessly with product and engineering to deliver world-class digital experiences. You’ll champion the QA discipline and attract, develop, and retain top QA talent. We’re looking for someone who is strong technically strong, opinionated, and ready to build and operate something great from the ground up—with full leadership support.
We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to one of our following offices: Concord, CA or Charlotte, NC.
Key Responsibilities
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Key Responsibilities
- Quality Strategy & Leadership: Define and execute the next-generation QA strategy that elevates quality from a phase to a principle—shifting left, automating everything, defining where and how to use AI-powered tooling, and embedding quality throughout the SDLC.
- Team Development & Culture: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of QA engineers in the U.S. and India. Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Test Automation & Tooling: Design and deploy modern automation frameworks (UI, API, performance, integration) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines across cloud-native architectures.
- Process Transformation: Introduce best practices around test-driven development, shift-left testing, quality gates, and production observability to dramatically improve reliability and speed.
- Engineering Partnership: Collaborate closely with engineering and product peers to ensure quality is a shared responsibility. Act as the voice of quality across design, development, and deployment.
- Metrics-Driven Execution: Establish and track key quality KPIs (defect escape rate, coverage, MTTR, cycle time), and use data to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
- Operational Excellence: Build resilient, scalable test environments and integrate quality deeply into the dev and release process to ensure fast, safe, high-quality software delivery.
- Proven ability to scale and transform QA organizations—ideally in a growth-stage or platform modernization environment.
- Expertise in modern testing strategies and tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit/TestNG, Postman, Gatling/Locust, etc.).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, cloud-native infrastructure (AWS preferred), and test environment management.
- Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals and microservices-based architectures.
- Demonstrated success working in distributed global teams and building high-trust, high-performance cultures.
- Passion for excellence, high standards, and building things the right way.
- Strong communication and executive presence; able to influence across engineering and product leadership.
- 10+ years of QA experience, with 5+ years in QA leadership roles.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
