We are looking for a Data Scientist to work on analytics at the intersection of product design, supply chain and material cost. The successful candidate will be a data explorer who embraces data wrangling and discovery, a problem solver who is energized by difficult business problems, a user of statistics who understands advanced modeling frameworks and their limitations, a proven communicator who effectively interfaces between technical and business teams, and a reliable team player.
Our Data Scientists bring data to life to help Ford create must-have, high quality, affordable vehicles. They work collaboratively to design analytical solutions that harness internal and external data, and leverage visualizations, predictive analytics, and prescriptive methods, to help the right decision makers make the right decisions at the right time. As a Data Scientist on the team, you will collaborate with partners in purchasing, product development, manufacturing, warranty, material planning, logistics and other Ford functions to define problems, identify data, develop data pipelines, develop metrics, create machine learning models, leverage operations research techniques, and deploy software solutions to provide actionable insights that deliver measurable, transformational benefits to Ford. Our team is looking for an analytics practitioner with strong critical thinking skills and experience applying programming, machine learning and statistics.

What You'll Do...
- Acquire deep understanding of the business problems and translate them into appropriate mathematical representations
- Work with large, complex data sets using tools such as Python, SQL, Google Cloud Services, Hadoop, Alteryx,
- Develop and deliver business solutions using skills such as data acquisition, data engineering, programming, and visualization.
- Design intuitive visual interfaces for users to interact with the data using dashboard and programming software
- Develop and deliver analytic products using skills such as predictive modeling, statistical analysis, machine learning, algorithm design, and interface development
- Interpret modeling results and communicate them to technical and non-technical audiences, cross-functional teams and leadership
- Interact and work cross-functionally with a wide variety of teams
- Develop trust with stakeholders and peers by delivering results on time
- Ensure overall quality of the data & solutions throughout the analytic development process
- Work with business teams on change management
- Provide training and maintenance of implemented tools to business partners
- Collect feedback from business users and continuously improve analytic products
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- 5+ years experience with python, Altyerx or R, capable at least three of the following visualization/dashboard tools: Angular, React, Tableau, looker, PowerBI, Qliksense, Dash, (MySQL and PHP)
- Using SQL for acquiring and transforming data: Familiar with statistical software package such as R or Python. Capable of using SQL, Python for acquiring, transforming real-world data, performing data cleaning, data collection or other data wrangling challenges
- Real-world data, data cleaning, data collection or other data wrangling challenges through R, Python, Alteryx or GCP native query
- 2+ year of work experience with on-prem data sources (Hadoop, SQL Server) and Cloud data sources (GCP) understand the data model, business rules behind the data and build data pipelines (with GCP) for one or more business domains.
- 1+ year of work experience with Large Language Model and Natural language processing for analyzing unstructured textual data, which can be difficult for traditional data analytics techniques to process and extract valuable insights from customer feedback, social media conversations, and other textual data sources.
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to peer, management and business audiences
- Well-organized, a self-starter, independent and ready to work with minimal supervision
- A respectful and committed teammate, willing to excel and work with talented people
- Master/PhD in quantitative field, such as (but not limited to) Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research
- 4+ years of experience of Statistical analysis: Apply mathematical and statistical methods to design proper algorithm, develop or refine analytical model that interprets data and generates meaningful insights using skills such as linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear regression, time series forecasting models, decision tree, regression tree, random forest, LASSO, model selection, text mining, among other mathematical, statistical and machine learning methodologies
- 4+ years experience of data modeling, optimization: Understand different function groups’ working tasks and current practices, explore possible process improvement, identify business needs. Formulate and translate detailed business cases into mathematical/statistical problems with mathematical abstractions, and appropriate analytical optimization models
- Work experience in automotive industry is a big plus, as is experience in a procurement, logistics or program management function
