Position Summary
The Cardiovascular (CV) Program Director is a strategic and clinical leader for the Cardiovascular Service Line. The Director plans, develops, implements, and administers CV Services in collaboration with the CV Program Medical Director, the Cath Lab Medical Director, and other members of the Cardiovascular Team. The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in acute cardiovascular care, evidence-based practice, consultation, education, performance improvement, clinical research, mentorship, and collaborative leadership. For major product lines, the CV Program Director is responsible for outlining and managing expectations, ensuring an understanding of the defined product lines within the Service Line, targeting clinical resources toward the service line, and facilitating the “right technology” strategy. The CV Director is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies. The CV Director directs staff development and education regarding cardiovascular care at all levels throughout the continuum. The CV Program Director promotes team skills and confidence while striving to achieve excellence in clinical outcomes and patient experience. This position will also have direct oversight of and accountability for the Cardiac Cath Lab staffing and operations. The CV Program Director is responsible for maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the ongoing success of the Cardiovascular Program. As the leader of our Cardiovascular Program and Center of Excellence, the Cardiovascular Program Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Job Requirements: Education: Minimum - BSN or equivalent Preferred - MSN/ Graduate of a state approved Nurse Practitioner Program Work Experience: Minimum - Advanced Clinical knowledge and skills in the care of the Cardiovascular Patient. Three years of recent clinical experience in the acute care setting, preferably with cardiovascular patients. Licenses and Certifications Minimum (Required)

- Initiates/participates in planning, implementing and interpreting policies, procedures and program initiatives within the Cardiovascular Program.
- Participates in establishing/interpreting the standards of patient care and objectives of the Cardiovascular program.
- In collaboration with the Medical Director(s) coordinates the quality assurance and improvement programs.
- Leads the survey processes where appropriate and serves as a member of the core cardiovascular team.
- Evaluates on an on-going basis the impact of protocols, policies, procedures related to cardiovascular care and makes recommendations for change.
- Partners with multidisciplinary team leaders to ensure evidence-based cardiovascular care across the continuum.
- Partners with data analyst/ research manager to monitor metrics/targets for LA County, STS and GWTG.
- Implements/supports effective workflow to ensure timeliness of care.
- Supports research initiatives involving all aspects of cardiovascular care.
- Serves as a reliable source of information on the latest evidence-based practice supporting cost-effective, safe nursing practice and multidisciplinary care of the cardiovascular patient.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team using the nursing process to integrate nursing perspective into a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family.
- Initiates/Coordinates/participates in Care Conferences or programs, for individual patients or populations of patients, to identify opportunities for improvement in care design and/or workflow.
- Identifies, collects, and analyzes data that serve as a basis for program re-design and outcome measurements.
- Serves as a member of the Cardiovascular Care Team.
- Provides direct oversight for the staffing and operations of the Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Participates in direct patient care and documentation as appropriate.
- Involved in daily rounds with care teams as appropriate.
- Coordinates evidence-based care across the continuum.
- Establishes methods to evaluate and document specific interventions and associated patient outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Consults with Surgeons, Medicine and other disciplines and health care professionals to improve overall care for the Cardiovascular population.
- Initiates and implements program goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization’s Strategic Plan, regulatory agency requirements, and standards of practice.
- Participates in identification, selection and evaluation of products and equipment.
- Develops and coordinates conferences in cooperation with the Medical Director(s).
- Participates in continuing education and training of nurses, EMS, and other personnel integral to the care of the cardiovascular patient.
- Participates in the development and implementation of community education/outreach programs on cardiovascular health and heart attack prevention as requested.
- Maintains current knowledge of cardiovascular care, evidence-based medicine and guidelines, and updates continuously by reviewing journals, attending rounds and conferences.
- This position serves as the STEMI Program Manager for purposes of LA County STEMI Receiving Center Standards and program implementation.
- Collaborates with Perioperative Director related to Hospital’s open heart service line.

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Pay Transparency The annual salary range for this position is $139,755.20 - $249,600.00.
