Who We Want
As a key member of the Advanced Solutions leadership team, the Vice President of Estate Planning plays a strategic and client-facing role in delivering estate planning solutions across Carson’s client base. This role serves as the in-house expert on estate, wealth transfer, and philanthropic planning strategies, and will collaborate with advisors, tax professionals, and external legal counsel to design, implement, and maintain complex estate plans. This individual will also help lead the strategic evolution of the firm’s estate planning offering across offices and markets.
This role requires both deep technical expertise and executive-level leadership skills, with a strong focus on innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and client experience.

What To Expect
Client Strategy & Consultation
- Partner with financial advisors and client relationship teams to deliver customized estate and legacy planning strategies.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of client estate documents, identifying planning gaps and recommending advanced solutions (e.g., GRATs, IDGTs, SLATs, CLTs, private foundations, family partnerships).
- Engage directly with clients and their legal/tax advisors as a subject matter expert on multi-generational wealth transfer planning.
- Provide ongoing guidance on estate strategies in response to changes in family dynamics, goals, tax law, or market environment.
- Collaborate with the Head of Advanced Solutions and other senior leaders to evolve the estate planning platform and resources firmwide.
- Lead or contribute to the development of estate planning content, white papers, educational modules, and advisor toolkits.
- Present estate planning thought leadership at client events, internal training sessions, webinars, and industry conferences.
- Serve as an estate planning resource to financial advisors, wealth strategists, and portfolio managers across offices nationwide.
- Build scalable processes and templates to support consistent estate planning delivery at scale.
- Provide mentorship and subject matter support to junior planning professionals and regional specialists.
- Ensure estate planning recommendations align with current legal standards, firm policies, and fiduciary best practices.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams to manage risk related to estate planning advice and document reviews.
Education & Credentials
- JD required; LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning preferred
- CFP, CPA, or CTFA designation a plus
- Admitted to at least one U.S. state bar (active or inactive)
- Minimum 10+ years of estate planning experience
- Demonstrated success advising on complex trust, tax, charitable, and business succession strategies
- Prior experience in a large RIA, multi-family office, law firm, or private bank preferred
- Proven leadership and ability to scale estate planning resources in a multi-office environment
- Deep knowledge of federal estate and gift tax law, generation-skipping transfer tax, trust structures, and philanthropic vehicles
- Familiarity with financial planning software (e.g., eMoney, MoneyGuidePro), CRM systems, and estate modeling tools
- Ability to review and interpret complex estate documents

The Total Rewards Expected For This Role Include
- Starting annual base salary between $150,000 - $208,900.
- Variable compensation potential (Bonus and/or commissions)
