What You'll Do

Keeping our satellite ground network systems secure is a key priority at Viasat. As a Cybersecurity Engineer on the Information Assurance (IA) team, you will help to identify and remediate weaknesses by running our vulnerability scanning program within Viasat Government.

The day-to-day

In this role, you'll take our scanning program to the next level by learning the tools inside and out, and tuning them for maximum coverage, effectiveness, and efficiency. You will be responsible for configuring and performing vulnerability, malware, file integrity, and intrusion prevention scans. You'll analyze the scan results and advise on vulnerabilities to the Information System Security Manager.

  • Create and maintain asset inventory database.
  • Configure vulnerability scan policies for a variety of systems.
  • Optimize scanning automation.
  • Perform of on-demand an automated scans.
  • Routinely analyze scan results for anomalies.
  • Maintain 100% network coverage by adjusting to network topology and device changes.
  • Perform software updates on the scanning system.
  • Maintain scanning system health.


What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience configuring and performing vulnerability scans
  • Experience with Tenable Nessus preferred
  • Familiarity with various types of vulnerability scans
  • Experience configuring anti-virus and host intrusion detection systems
  • Familiarity with common vulnerability exploitation techniques
  • Solid understanding of network protocols preferred
  • Familiarity with authentication protocols
  • Familiarity with asset management systems a plus
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs a plus
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
  • Security+ or higher-level DoD 8140 compliant certification required
  • US Citizenship required and active USG Secret Clearance required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Salary range

$107,500.00 - $170,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $127,500.00- $191,500.00/ annually
