Summary
Responsible for enhancing and conducting a thorough and effective new hire order selector training program and promoting safety awareness throughout the Company. Responsible for assisting the Director of Risk Management in implementing a sound safety program which complies with all OSHA, EPA, DEQ, DOT, and NFPA rules and regulations, while simultaneously reducing on-the-job accidents. The Safety & Training Assistant is a part-time internship position specifically tailored for a college level senior.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Senior level college student enrolled in a safety related course of study relevant to the requirements of the position.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of current spreadsheet software and word-processing software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review and enhance orientation, safety and training programs for distribution center positions including order selectors, forklift operators, and sanitation positions. The programs should also effectively introduce new hires to company general employment policies and OSHA regulations.
- Act as a liaison between the Risk Management department and Operations department to help foster a positive relationship and facilitate effective communications between the departments.
- Assist with conducting safety and security audits.
- Assist other members of Risk Management Department with tasks as needed.
- Assist with ensuring company compliance with all OSHA, EPA, DEQ, DOT, and NFPA rules and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of current safety issues through ongoing literature surveys and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.
Education and/or Experience
Senior level college student enrolled in a safety related course of study relevant to the requirements of the position.
