As a Payroll Specialist, this individual is responsible for the processing of payroll by organizing, inputting, and auditing employee personnel, benefit, and tax withholding data in compliance with established deadlines and procedures, including responding to documentation and reporting requests of payroll related records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and executes biweekly payroll processes meeting required deadlines.
  • Provides customer service support by phone and email to employees with any payroll questions or issues; responds to third party inquires.
  • Applies special deductions such as garnishment, child support, and tax levy requests; communicates with issuing agencies and employees on status.
  • Tracks employee leave of absences and issues payments when appropriate.
  • Researches and resolves discrepancies, corrects errors, and processes manual checks as needed.

Competencies Required

  • Solid communication and customer service skills.
  • Effective problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Office, Excel, Word).
  • Proficiency with using payroll software, Cognos and UltiPro preferred.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

  • 2 years of payroll processing experience required.

Formal Education & Certification

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional preferred.

  • None.

  • 0% - Negligible amount of travel expected.

Working Conditions

  • Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc.
